Hiking along the Aletsch Glacier

Last weekend I went hiking again to the Aletsch Glacier with some friends from the lab, but this time got really closer to the glacier, so close that I actually touched it.
The Aletsch Glacier is the greates glacier in the Alps and in Europe and it was declared a UNESCO World heritage site.
This hike has aproximately 10 km and takes 4-5 hours, it's an easy-medium hike.

This website has some tips about the path and the profile, here they show the way from Fiescheralp to Bettmeralp, but I would recommend the other way around (as I did) because we could do most of the hike with an amazing view facing the glacier.

From Lausanne we took the train to Betten, via Brig (Lausanne-Brig-Betten), and in Betten the cablecar to Bettmeralp (Betten-Bettmeralp). After getting to the top we crossed the little village of Bettmeralp and got another cable carto Bettmerhorn (Bettmeralp-Bettmerhorn), this is the starting point of the hike and the place were we can take the most famous picture of the Glacier. From this point we just followed the signs to Fiescheralp, here we had to take another cablecar, this time, we went down to Fiesch (Fiescheralp-Fiesch) were we took the train back to Lausanne, via Brig once again (Fiesch-Brig-Lausanne).
The hike is not very hard although I must confess that after a couple of days my muscles were still sored.

I guess this is the perfect way to work out, hiking on the mountains with an amazing view, breathing fresh air and taking a lot of pictures, I wouldn't be able to do all of this on the gym :p

Pictures soon...
